About Parma Car Care Specialists

The Standard Behind Every Repair

Fred Cerny bought Parma Car Care Specialists in 1989 and has run it from State Road ever since. He came to the trade with a degree in electrical engineering, a background that shapes how the shop approaches every diagnostic. The shop was built on one operating standard: the price on the written estimate is the price on the invoice.

Customers approve that written estimate before any work begins, with no surprise line items, after-the-fact add-ons, or vague labor charges. Same-day service is available for most standard repairs, and local pickup, delivery, and shuttle service are included as part of the package rather than an upsell. The shop has served the same community for 37 years and has earned a 4.5-star Google rating.

How the Business Has Evolved

The shop opened in 1989 as a three-bay operation off State Road, serving a retail customer base drawn from the surrounding neighborhood. Fred grew the business as the work and mix of vehicles changed over the years. Today, the facility has eleven bays and handles everything from routine oil changes to full engine repair and transmission work.

The fleet side grew alongside the retail side. Commercial vehicle operators across Greater Cleveland found a shop that could keep their trucks on the road through preventative maintenance that was actually kept to schedule. That reputation built the fleet maintenance program into what it is today.

Meet Fred Cerny, Owner

Fred Cerny bought Parma Car Care Specialists in 1989, taking over what was then a three-bay operation off State Road. He entered the trade with an electrical engineering degree as vehicles began shifting from mechanical systems to electronic ones. His background became a practical advantage in the shop’s diagnostic work.

Fred has earned ASE Master Technician certification across all nine ASE areas. The shop follows its guiding line, “Service That Goes the Extra Mile for You and Your Vehicle.” The team provides upfront estimates, avoids hidden fees, and communicates honestly from inspection through the final invoice.

The shop applies that standard to every vehicle. Technicians diagnose the problem before ordering parts, and the written estimate matches the final invoice. The shop also cuts and programs keys in-house for nearly all makes and models. Its professional Xhorse key-cutting machine covers more than 100 makes, saving customers a trip to the dealer.

Thirty-seven years later, Fred runs an eleven-bay facility serving both retail drivers and commercial fleet operators, with a 4.5-star Google rating built on that same standard.

The Team Behind the Work

Beyond Fred, the shop has a team of technicians who follow the same diagnose-first standard on every vehicle. Technicians scan and inspect each vehicle before ordering parts. This approach helps avoid unnecessary parts replacement and repeated repair attempts.

The shop handles complex electrical faults, module programming, and modern diagnostic work in-house. This keeps the team responsible for the repair from diagnosis through vehicle delivery.

Why We Focus on Full-Service Auto Repair

Vehicles across Cuyahoga County share one need: an accurate diagnosis before any repair recommendation. General repair lets the shop use the same diagnostic standards across different vehicle types. That includes commuter sedans, family SUVs, and work trucks, reflecting the full range of services offered.

Our Mission and Code of Ethics

Parma Car Care Specialists was built on one idea: give drivers a repair they can verify, from the written estimate to the final invoice. That standard applies to every fleet vehicle and every family car that comes through the shop.

Technicians use the correct tools for your vehicle platform and complete the repair with quality parts.

Our Repair Process

  • Initial Inspection

Every vehicle gets a full visual and diagnostic inspection. Technicians use scan data, sensor readings, and physical findings to prepare the estimate based on what they actually find.

  • Written Estimate

The customer receives a written estimate covering parts, labor, and scope before any work begins. The team gets the customer’s approval before starting any work, and the final invoice includes no hidden fees.

  • Repair and Verification

An experienced technician completes the repair and then performs a follow-up scan or road test to confirm the original concern is resolved. Most standard jobs qualify for same-day service.

  • Delivery and Documentation

The team walks the customer through the completed work and explains why they performed it. Pickup, delivery, and shuttle service are available to make vehicle handoff easier for local drivers.

“Absolutely love taking my car here. They are always so efficient, they don’t price gouge me (like most mechanic shops do when you’re a female, and you bring your car in on your own), and everyone there is so nice and friendly! Definitely recommend!”
